A door that sticks or fights you every time you try to lock it is one of those small problems that gets old fast. You stop noticing how much effort it takes until one day someone else tries it and immediately asks what's wrong with your door. That's usually the moment people call us.

What we're dealing with here is pretty common - latches that aren't catching cleanly, hardware that's slightly out of alignment, and doors that require more force than they should to close and lock. It's not always visible to the naked eye, but you feel it every single time. The latch bolt and strike plate have to line up just right, and when they don't, the whole door becomes a wrestling match.

The fix sounds simple, and honestly, it often is - when you know what you're looking for. We check the hinge alignment, look at how the door sits in the frame, and figure out exactly where the binding or misalignment is happening. Sometimes it's the hinges. Sometimes it's the strike plate position. Sometimes the door has shifted slightly and needs to be rehung to sit correctly. We don't guess our way through it.

One customer literally sighed with relief after trying her doors again once we were done. That kind of reaction doesn't happen with big dramatic renovations - it happens with fixes that make everyday life easier. Opening and closing a door should take zero effort. When it does, you stop thinking about it entirely. That's the goal.

If you've got a door that sticks, drags, won't latch without a shove, or just feels off - that's something we can sort out. Door adjustments are one of those jobs that are easy to put off because the door still technically works. But it shouldn't take effort, and it doesn't have to.
